(x) Cnut 'the Great' (1016-1035), 'Quatrefoil' Type, Penny, 1017-1023, Stamford, Capelin, + CNVT REX ANGLORV, crowned bust left within poorly defined quatrefoil, double band to crown with three trefoils above, four horizontal folds to drapery, rev. + CAPELIN MO ST•A•, long cross voided on broad quatrefoil with pellet at apex of each cusp, each limb terminating in three crescents; second quarter with a defacing mark (capsule shape gouge), dividing legend, 0.95g [14.66grns], 4h (Hildebrand 3239 [Type E]; SCBI 15 [Copenhagen, Part IIIc], 3513-3516; SCBI 27 [Lincolnshire], 1238; SCBI 60 [Hermitage, Part II], 288-289; Eaglen & Grayburn [BNJ LXX, 2000], pp. 12-38, Pl. 1, No. 7; North 781; BMC VIII; S.1157), the reverse struck with a rusty and defaced (gouged) die in fourth quarter, with brighter surfaces, a bolder very fine, very scarce
