(x) Cnut 'the Great' (1016-1035), 'Quatrefoil' Type, Penny, 1017-1023, London, Wulfræd, + CNVT REX ANGLOR• crowned bust left leaning forward within poorly defined quatrefoil, fine pellets between trefoils above single banded crown, two lines of hair below, two vertical and one horizontal folds in drapery, rev. [+ P]VLFRED ON LVN[DEN], NL and ND ligated, long cross voided on poorly defined quatrefoil with pellet at apex of each cusp, each limb terminating in three crescents, dividing legend, 1.08g [16.67grns], 12h (Hildebrand E; SCBI 2 [Hunterian], 900 same reverse die; SCBI 60 [Hermitage, Part II], 219; SCBI 66 [Norwegian, Part II], 2222; North 781; BMC VIII; S.1157), struck with worn reverse die and a spot of verdigris, otherwise brighter surfaces, very fine, the variety scarcer with pellets in the crown
