Leonard Clayton was born in Levenshulme, Manchester on 9 March 1907 and entered the Royal Navy as an Ordinary Seaman in March 1927. Advanced to Able Seaman in September 1928, his service number was changed from SSX. 12691 to PJ/X. 13822 in December 1932, when he signed-up for continuous service. He died in Stockport on 10 October 1986; sold with original Ministry of Pensions forwarding letter for the King's Badge, dated 24 April 1946.
