Army L.S. & G.C., V.R. (2nd Apl 1859 1584 Pte George Cole 85th Lt Infy), engraved naming, very fine

George Cole was born at Woodleigh, Kingsbridge, Devon. He previously worked as a labourer before he enlisting into the 85th Foot at Plymouth on 22 August 1839. He served in the West Indies for 2 years and 10 months, Mauritius for 3 years and 2 months, and the Cape of Good Hope for 4 years and 6 months. Cole was finally discharged on 21 May 1861, and this medal is his sole entitlement.
