William Moulton enlisted on 17 October 1840 and served two tours in Australia between 1846 and 1857. The Regiment had been popular in South Australia suring their recent time as garrison there and where recalled by public petition in 1846. Despite their popularity their time in the city was not without incident notably a brawl at the British Hotel in Pirie Street where soldiers forced their way into the establishment and began to assualt the patrons. There is no indication that Moulton was involved however, his Long Service & Good Conduct Medal was awarded 28 February 1858, and he was discharged 17 October 1861; sold together with copied paperwork.
