The Long Service and Good Conduct Medal awarded to Regulating Petty Officer E. A. Turner, Royal Navy who served at Jutland was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal in September 1916

Ernest Alfred Turner was born at Stonehouse, Plymouth on 29 November 1873. He was a fitter and turner when he enlisted in the Royal Navy on 9 March 1895. His Long Service & Good Conduct Medal was awarded on 4 May 1910.
During the Great War he was posted in Mons and served with her at the Battle of Jutland. Her she served attached to Admiral Beatty's Battlecruisers, seeing action during the Run to the South. After the fighting Turner was 'commended for good service in action in the North Sea for the period 31 May to 1 June 1916', resulting in the award of the Distinguished Service Medal for the Battle of Jutland, London Gazette 15 September 1916 refers. Turner was discharged medically unfit on 17 July 1917.
