Louis Charles Hogg was born in 1879 in Stroud, Gloucestershire and enlisted with the Royal Berkshire Regiment on 7 September 1914. He joined the Western Front in September the next year, disembarking at Le Havre with the 7th Royal Berkshire Regiment. They later sailed for Macedonia in November 1915 and disembarked at Salonika. Hogg was demobilised at Dobric, Bulgaria in March 1919 and discharged to Class 'Z' Army Reserve the next month; sold together with copied research and original boxes of issue in their forwarding envelopes.
