Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, 1 clasp, Tel-el-Kebir (...Sgt. W. Blount...), heavy wear from Star, fair; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R. (2797 Cr. Sgt. W. Blount. R. W. Surr. R.); Khedive's Star 1882, the reverse impressed '3178 C.G.', contact marks, nearly very fine and an unusual combination (3)

William Blount was born at Warton, Warwickshire and had served in the 1st Battalion, Stafford Militia upon his joining the Coldstream Guards at Tamworth in March 1874, by that time a collier by trade and also unable to write. Having served in Egypt from 1 August to 16 November 1882 (Medal & clasp, Khedive's Star), he transferred to the 3rd Battalion, The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment in September 1889. Promoted Colour-Sergeant in June 1891, his L.S. & G.C. Medal was issued in July 1892. Blount was discharged in September 1892 and by 1911 was living in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire with his wife; sold together with copied research.
