India General Service 1895-1908, 2 clasps, Punjab Frontier 1897-98, Tirah 1897-98 (5411 Pte J. Hill 2d Bn K.O.Sco Bord) light contact marks, very fine

James Hill was born at St. Cuthbert's, Edinburgh and enlisted into the King's Own Scottish Borderers at Berwick-upon-Tweed on 16 August 1895. He served in India from 7 October 1896 until returning home on 26 April 1903 where he continued to serve before being put on the A Reserve on 28 April 1903. Hill was finally discharged on 15 August 1907. In addition, Hill was awarded a 1st Class Gymnasia Certificate and qualified as a Gymnastic and Swordsmanship Instructor on 21 April 1900.
