New Zealand 1845-66, undated reverse (832. F. Toole. 50th Foot), light contact marks, very fine

Francis Toole was born at Dublin, Ireland and had been a labourer before he attested into the 50th (Queen's Own) Regiment of Foot on 8 October 1863. He spent a total of four years and three months in the Australian Colonies according to his service papers, and was discharged at Netley on 25 May 1869 due to being medically unfit for further service. His service papers make a note of him having been awarded an New Zealand Medal, this is dated 9 September 1909 and is stuck on the front of his service papers.
