M. D. Holland joined the 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards from the Junior Leaders Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps in 1964. Posted first to 'B' Squadron, Administration Troop later posted to Third Troop. He was injured while the Regiment was stationed at Beihan during a Grenade attack upon British troops who were relaxing at an open air film showing. Their attacker was never found and by 1966 Holland had moved to the M.T. Troop, that same year they moved to Cyprus; sold together with copied nominal rolls and extracts from the Regimental Magazine covering the Aden Emergency.
