Harold Arthur Teed was born at Wisbech, Cambridgeshire in 1896. Working as a Motor Mechanic before the war he joined the Royal Flying Corps on 2 August 1915 with the rank of Air Mechanic Class II. Appointed Air Mechanic Class I on 1 January 1916, he was promoted Corporal on 1 May 1916 and further advanced Sergeant on 1 August. Entering the war in France on 4 March 1917 with No, 48 Squadron
