Richard Close was born at Newcastle-under-Lyme in 1887. Enlisting with the Royal Garrison Artillery on 14 February 1916 Close served with the 252 Siege Battery. Entering the war in France on 31 May 1918 he remained there until falling ill, being discharged on 29 July 1919. Close died at Newcastle, Staffordshire in 1975; sold together with copied research including M.I.C., service papers and census data.
