Pair: Private R. Dingwall, 5th Battalion, Royal Scots, who died of wounds on 2 July 1916, likely sustained while aiding the stretcher bearers with casualties from the first two days of fighting

Richard Dingwall was born in 1881 at Edinburgh, Midlothian. He married Joan Thomson Dickson of Castlehill Edinburgh on 6 November 1903, by the time of the Great War the couple had four children. Enlisting with 5th Battalion, Royal Scots at Edinburgh on 29 November 1915 he joined the war in France on 6 May 1916 and arrived with the Battalion on 25 May. Tragically Dingwall was not with his unit long before he suffered a serious wound, a gun-shot to the right hip which resulted in his transfer to 92nd Field Ambulance. Briefly moved to 108th Field Ambulance he was returned to 92nd Field Ambulance the same day but the wound proved too severe and he died on 2 July 1916, Dingwall is buried at Warloy-Baillion Communal Cemetery; sold together with copied research including casualty lists, Commonwealth War Graves details and typed research on the recipient.
