Great Britain: Bicester Gas, Coke, and Coal Company, certificate for one share, 18[50], #105, black on vellum, red wax seal (chipped). One of many companies formed for Gas supply in England in the 1840's following the introduction of the 1844 Companies Act. Prior to the 1844 Act a company would need to acquire an expensive and time consuming Act of Parliament. The 1844 Act just required a simple registration process. GVF.
