1845 (29 Aug.) entire letter to Dublin "pr Royal Far" (?) bearing a good strike of the rare ""Registered/sydney" (White type R2) handstamp in red, oval "paid ship letter/sydney" datestamp with large "6" and "2/4" rate marks; the reverse with straight-line "ship letter, London and Dublin (25.2) datestamps.


This is the earliest of only three recorded examples of this Sydney registration handstamp

The registration handstamp denotes 6d. paid cash to the postmaster, 6d. denotes double overseas ship letter rate and 2/4d. paid by the recipient of 1/4d. double inward private ship plus 1/- registration
