Postage Due Stamps and Their Usages
1956-59 Provisional Postage Dues, Covers
Much has been written about these interesting stamps over the years, most recently by Otto Peetoom in his magazine "The Rhodesian Philatelist". Potential buyers may care to look at issues 3, 26, 29, 36 and 41 for an in depth analysis of these stamps

1957 (23 Dec.) envelope marked "air mail from Welkom to Belvedere, Salisbury franked with Zebra 2d. cancelled with machine datestamp, showing circular-framed "t/2d" handstamp alongside Mabelreign datestamp (27.12) and bearing 2d. bright green handstamped "postage due" 27½x3mm. in violet from lower left to top right and cancelled by what may be a further Mabelreign datestamp and believed not to be a Delivery Room datestamp; the reverse with a couple of tears through over-zealous opening during the Christmas period, and with some edge faults, however considered to be the sole example of the 2d. value known on cover.
