Postage Due Stamps and Their Usages
1956-59 Provisional Postage Dues, Covers
Much has been written about these interesting stamps over the years, most recently by Otto Peetoom in his magazine "The Rhodesian Philatelist". Potential buyers may care to look at issues 3, 26, 29, 36 and 41 for an in depth analysis of these stamps

1956 (5 Dec.) window envelope from Bulawayo bearing 1d. blue cancelled by machine datestamp, upon arrival bearing 1d. blue handstamped with "postage due" in violet measuring 23mm. and tied by "cancelled" handstamp in black. A most unusual item that is offered on it's merits. Also 1d. (2) and 2d. mint, 1d. and 2d. "used" with forged overprints. Photo

Note: The cover has a manuscript "415" at the lower left corner which has been confirmed by Henk De Lange as being from a Stephan Welz sale on 4 February 1987.
