The Houston Mount Everest Expedition
1933 (5 Apr.) envelope to the Dalrymples in Farnham Common bearing India 1a. 3p. pair and Air 6a. tied by two strikes of the special circular Purnea c.d.s. in purple and underneath the adhesives, straight-line "Houston Everest Flight" in purple, air mail etiquette and, on the reverse, two more strikes of the straight-line handstamp (not recorded in Waterfall), with the accompanying letter from T.D. Connochie which begins, "This letter is going over the top of Everest ..." and the foot of the letter has also been signed by Clydesdale, McIntyre, Blacker and Bonnet (before their successful flight). An important letter which demonstrates that some of the first flight mail was not cancelled until the 5th April.

There is also a further group of envelopes and typed letters to the Dalrymples from one of the film makers, the first from Purnea between flights, another on the 21st just before they all left, one on letterhead of the Hotel Mount Everest in Darjeeling (4.5) and finally a long letter from the Great Eastern Hotel Calcutta (21.5). This interesting group gives a little more information about other matters associated with the Expedition. Photo


1933年4月5日寄英國封, 貼印度1a.3p. 票一對, 銷兩枚紫色特別圓形Purnea 日戳, 另蓋紫色 "Houston Everest Flight" 印, 貼航空標簽, 封背再蓋兩枚直線戳記 (Waterfall 没有記載). 随附來自 TD Connochie 的信, 開始是 “這封信正在越過珠穆朗玛峰......”, 信的底部也有克莱兹代爾, 麥金太爾, 布萊克和邦尼特 (之前他們曾成功飛行). 一封重要的信件, 表明了一些第一次飛行郵件直到 4 月 5 日才被取消. 尚有一組信封和一位電影制片人寫给 Dalrymples 的信, 第一件是在航班之間的 Purnea, 另一件是在他們離開之前的 21 日, 一個是大吉嶺珠穆朗瑪峰酒店的信箋抬頭(4.5 ), 最後是加爾各答大東方酒店的一封長信 (21.5). 這個有趣的小組合提供了更多關於與遠征相關的其他事項的信息.
