A Union Flag: '… that was carried by the 2 Batt. R.W. Fus during the occupation of Crete 1897-99'.

Wool bunting, originally measuring 36 inches (915mm) square, now reduced at the hoist to 762 mm and at the fly by wear; white canvas hoist sleeve retaining its halyard, with wooden toggle at the top and loop at the bottom; stamped in black ink on the reverse side of the sleeve with the Broad Arrow and W D and the measurements 3' x 3'. Attached to the flag with a steel pin, a piece of paper bearing, in Dobell's hand, the ink inscription: The flag that was carried by the 2 Batt. R.W. Fus during the occupation of Crete 1897-99. It was [illegible] colours & was saluted by all the Allied Powers. Charles Dobell 28.XI.20.

Rather worn and tattered, with some moth damage.
