Great Britain: Boots Cash Chemists (Southern) Ltd., 'A' preference shares of £1, (1931), #6307, signed by Lord Trent (John Campbell Boot) as director, black, red seal. Jesse Boot formed this company on the acquisition of William Day's Southern Drug Company, a chain of 60 stores in London and the South. Jesse Boot (1851-1931). Retail chemist. Took over his father's business at an early age, based in Nottingham, and tranformed it into a national chain. Boot was knighted in 1909, created a baronet in 1916, and created Baron Trent, of Nottingham in 1929. His son, John Campbell Boot, became 2nd Lord Trent on the death of his father in June 1931. VF and rare.
