Great Britain: Boots Cash Chemists (Southern) Ltd., 'A' preference shares of £1, (1931), #6307, signed by Lord Trent (John Campbell Boot) as director, black, red seal. Jesse Boot formed this company on the acquisition of William Day's Southern Drug Company, a chain of 60 stores in London and the South. Jesse Boot (1851-1931). Retail chemist. Took over his father's business at an early age, based in Nottingham, and tranformed it into a national chain. Boot was knighted in 1909, created a baronet in 1916, and created Baron Trent, of Nottingham in 1929. His son, John Campbell Boot, became 2nd Lord Trent on the death of his father in June 1931.
