Great Britain: Boots Pure Drug Company Ltd., a series of certificates comprising 'A' prefered ordinary shares, [1926], #4451; 'B' preference shares, [1931], #262; 'C' preference shares, [1931], #3220 and, 'D' preferred ordinary shares, [1927], #10529, all signed by John Campbell Boot as director, either 'J C Boot' or 'Trent'. Now a household name, Boots was formed in Nottingham by his father in 1849. Jesse Boot (1851-1931), retail chemist. Took over his father's business at an early age, based in Nottingham, and tranformed it into a national chain. Boot was knighted in 1909, created a baronet in 1916, and created Baron Trent, of Nottingham in 1929. He died in June 1931 and his son John Campbell Boot became 2nd Lord Trent. Generally VF (4).
