Type numbers quoted in this and the following sections are those by Stanley Gibbons. There are sub-types of Types 1, 2, 7 and 12 and when quoted these are used by H.R. Holmes in his article in the London Philatelist, November 1962, etc.
1877-78 First Printing in black on 1d. and red on other values
4d. blue with our frame-line, a block of four from the right-hand pane comprising Types 3 and 2a over 4 and 5, fresh unused with large part original gum; the lower pair with light horizontal bend at centre and a short perf. to Type 4, otherwise fine and a very rare multiple of this stamp that adjoins that overlaps the previous lot at Row 8/4.
