x British Post Offices Abroad Peru 1869 (7 Oct.) entire letter from Tacna "Via Panama & Southampton" to France, bearing 1868 1d. yellow-green tied by Tacna c.d.s. and in combination with G.B. 1868 4d. vermilion Plate 4 and 6d. bright violet Plate 6 both sharing a pen-stroke and each cancelled by London zigzag erasure h.s., showing "panama/transit" d.s. (20.10), London Paid c.d.s. (13.11), Calais c.d.s. 914.11) and oval-framed "pd" h.s. in red, all on face, two French transit c.d.s. on reverse; the 4d. crossed by a light filing fold though a colourful franking, underpaid despite use of the "PD" handstamp, the correct rate being 1/8d.
