St. Helena Queen Victoria Covers 1868 (12 Oct.) envelope to France, rated "4" and bearing 1861 6d. blue and 1868 2d. yellow each cancelled with figure "2" handstamp (CNA.14, the larger of the two types), showing despatch oval d.s. in red, London Paid and Calais (7.11) c.d.s., two Paris arrival c.d.s. (8.11) on reverse; a couple of minor imperfections though a very rare and desirable franking with the "2" handstamp particularly rare on cover. S.G. 2a, 9. Photo Estimate £ 3,000-4,000 Note: Recent research concludes that the "2" handstamp was used to indicate St. Helena´s share of the postage, with one strike indicating the share was 2d. and with two strikes indicating the share was 4d.
