Naval General Service 1793-1840, one clasp, Syria (John Sharp.), clasp facing refitted, very fine Estimate £ 380-420 John Sharp served as Able Seaman in H.M.S. Implacable on and off the coast of Syria, 1840; two other men of this name appear on the Admiralty Claimants List (see Lots 92 and 94). The above medal has been refitted with an original ´Syria´ clasp facing. It is likely that this is the medal that appeared at Glendining with a single clasp ´Anse la Barque 18 Decr 1809´, in March 1989 given that the other two medals appear entirely as issued.
