The Società Italiana per le Strade Ferrate della Sicilia, better known as Sicula, was formed in 1885 when the Italian railway was regrouped into three main companies. The Sicula took over the existing line form the Vittorio Emanuele and continued the construction program. In 1895 the line Palermo-Messina was completed. The Sicula also was operating the ferry service in the Strait of Messina. EF.
