Mercantile Bank of India, Hong Kong, specimen $50, 1.1.1930, no serial numbers, brown, sampan and boats at centre,
(Pick 238s), PMG 65EPQ. A possibly underrated type in the cataloguer's opinion as the $25 of the same series are more commonly talked about. Much like the $25, there are less than 4 issued notes for this type and currently the only way to obtain uncirculated examples are through specimens and colour trials. PMG census 2nd highest grade, bested by only 1 higher grade example. An impressive piece with its classical design, intricate illustrations, vibrant printing and original paper! Truely a trophy piece in any collection.


1930年有利銀行伍拾員樣票，無編號，棕色，中央為舢板和船隻圖案，PMG 65EPQ。情況與該行的貳拾伍員紙鈔類似，評級紀錄中行鈔數目不足4枚，目前能獲得未流通品的唯一方法是通過樣票及試色樣票。編者認為由於同系列紙鈔的貳拾伍員名氣較大，因此稀缺度一樣的「香蕉船」有被低估之嫌，市場價格未能充分反映其收藏價值。 此枚著墨均勻、對比鮮明，紙身硬挺，紋理保留完好，是PMG評級紀錄中之亞軍分，僅有一枚獲評更高分。「香蕉船」設計經典風尚，圖案情景交融，堪稱沒世難忘的珍品，絕對是眾多香港紙鈔藏家的文化願景
