Lot: 1154
Canada 1980 (5 Dec.) Mandora Instrument 17c. printed on the gummed side and with gold and fluorescent tagging omitted, fine. With normal for comparison. Pierron CA2002MCa, £1,000; Sc. 878i; unlisted in S.G. Photo Estimate £ 400-500 Note: The missing gold results in the loss of inscription, country name and value. It is thought a sheet of 200 went through the press gum side up causing the litho colours to be printed on the gum. Then, when the uncut sheet went into the sheet feed press during the gold printing process, the sheet inadvertently printed on the gummed side stuck to the sheet above - gum side to gum side. Numerous examples exist with creases and adhesion damage consistent with the cause of the error. quantity: 200 mint (circa 84 damaged)
