x Victoria 1854 (22 Dec.) complete copy of "The Argus" from Melbourne "Per first opportunity" to England, bearing 1854-57 Campbell and Fergusson 1d. 1d. dull red with good to huge margins and cancelled by "newspaper/melbourne" oval d.s., Motram arrival c.d.s. (25.3) in blue alongside; some edge wear and other faults, as to be expected with an item of this nature, though folded so as to be exhibitable on a standard page, and very rare. S.G. 26b. Photo Estimate £ 2,000-3,000 Note: There are approximately thirteen uses of the 1d. letter rate, most of which are "Prices Current" shipping lists.
