Royal Army Temperance Association, 9 Year Medal (2), silver (Hallmarks for London 1905 and 1912) (RATA.9), nearly extremely fine Royal Army Temperance Association, 10 Year Medal (Roberts Medal), silver (RATA.10), extremely fine Royal Army Temperance Association, 12 Year Medal, with ´Excelsior´ top riband bar, silver (Hallmarks for Birmingham 1906) (RATA.11), extremely fine Royal Army Temperance Association, 20 Year Medal (Bancroft Medal) (2), both with ´RATA XX Years´ top enamel riband bar, silver, gold, and enamel, crown suspension with enamel infill (RATA.13), extremely fine and scarce (6) Estimate £ 60-80 The Bancroft Medal for 20 years´´ abstinence is named after Staff Sergeant Nathaniel Bancroft (1823-1907), who joined the Bengal Horse Artillery in 1833 as an under age recruit and first saw action during the First Afghan War. He signed the pledge in 1859, and in 1900 was elected to the Governing Council of the Army Temperance Association in Simla, with the responsibility of visiting the various Branches of the Association in India.
