Ebden 123d Outram´s Rifes [sic]), officially engraved in sloping upper and lower case script, extremely fine, scarce to european officers Estimate £ 340-380 Major Francis Thomas Powney Ebden, born Great Stukely, Huntingdonshire, 1882, the son of Colonel Frances Thomas Ebden, Indian Army and Laura E. Ebden of 21 Jenner House, Hunter Street, Bloomsbury, London; educated at Wellington College and Sandhurst; commissioned Second Lieutenant Lincolnshire Regiment, 1900; transferred Indian Staff Corps, 7.10.1901; served on the North West Frontier, 1901-02, and with the 73rd Carnatic Infantry in operations in the interior of Aden, 1903-04; Captain 28.7.1909; appointed Second in Command 1st Battalion 73rd Carnatic Infantry, from 26.10.1912; Temporary Major 28.7.1916; died 9.10.1919, buried at Baghdad (Northgate) Cemetery.
