x India General Service 1895-1902, E.VII.R., one clasp, Waziristan 1901-2 (Lieut. P.B. Maxwell 35th Sikhs), nearly extremely fine, scarce to european officer, with photographic image of recipient Estimate £ 400-450 Captain Peter ´´Pat´´ Benson Maxwell, born Guernsey, 1880, the son of William Edward Maxwell, Assistant Resident, Perak; his grandfathers were Sir Peter Benson Maxwell, Chief Justice of the Straits Settlement and the Rev. James Aberigh-Mackay, D.D., Chieftain of Clan Abrach; educated at Bedford Grammar School and Sandhurst, when he passed out from the latter he received the Queen Victoria gold medal, the Sword of Honour and field glasses for proficiency in tactics; commissioned Second Lieutenant Royal West Surrey Regiment, 1900; transferred Lieutenant 35th Sikhs, April 1901; and served with the regiment during the Waziristan Expedition, 1901-02; Captain 17.1.1909; transferred East Yorkshire Regiment, 29.10.1912; he served with the 1st Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment during the Great War, and ´´was wounded at the Battle of the Aisne on the 20th September, 1914, his first day in action, died on the 23rd, and was buried at Braisne on the 24th of the month.´´ (Bond of Sacrifice, refers).
