Moore, 12th Ben, Cavy.), engraved in sloping serif capitals, minor edge bruising, otherwise nearly extremely fine Estimate £ 300-350 Major Martin James Moore (1842-1924), born London, the son of Captain John Arthur Moore; educated at Mr. Brackenbury´´s School, Wimbledon; commissioned Cornet Bengal Cavalry, 1859; Lieutenant 1861, appointed 2nd Squadron Subaltern, 12th Bengal Cavalry, 1866; Squadron Officer and Adjutant 1869; advanced Major 1879, and served with the regiment from the commencement of the 2nd Afghan War until he was invalided home 2.4.1879; he retired the following year.
