Hervey, 3rd Bengal N.I.), light contact marks, otherwise good very fine (2) Estimate £ 800-1,000 Captain Gerald Augustus Frederick Hervey (1816-91), 2nd son of Captain H.A.F. Hervey, 13th Bombay N.I., nephew of Lieutenant-General A. Hervey, and Ward of the Hon. Hugh Lindsay (son of James, 5th Earl of Balcarres); commissioned Ensign Indian Army, 1834, and assigned 3rd Bengal Native Infantry, 1836; Lieutenant 1839; Interpreter and Quartermaster, 1840; attached 2nd Bengal Volunteer Battalion, 1.2.1842, and served with the latter in the 1st China War including at the capture of Chin-kiang Foo; his attachment ended March 1843; Captain 1845; served with the 3rd Bengal Native Infantry during the Punjab Campaign, where he served under Brigadier Wheeler; invalided from service, 7.1.1853; died in Hammersmith, London.
