x Indian Mutiny 1857-58, one clasp, Defence of Lucknow (Corpl. S. Gerry, 32nd L.I.), minor edge nicks, nearly extremely fine, sold with copies of original letters and a testimonial concerning the recipient´s wife who was a maid and nurse to Mrs. Emily Jane Melville, in India during the period Estimate £ 1,000-1,200 1193 Corporal Samuel Gerry, enlisted 32nd Light Infantry, 1835; served with the Regiment during the Punjab Campaign, 1848-49 (entitled to medal with Mooltan and Goojerat clasps); served during the Indian Mutiny, and was killed in action at the disastrous battle of Chinhut, 30.6.1857.
