x Sudan British Military Forces in Egypt and Sudan, 1801 to 1913 The Nile Expedition 1897-98 1898 (3 Jan.) 5m. envelope, written in Arabic and possibly from a civilian, from Berber to Cairo, cancelled with a good strike of the "berber" c.d.s. with a further strike alongside, Wadi-Halfa Camp and Cairo (18.1) c.d.s. on reverse; the envelope with some light soiling and other small faults though an early use of this scarce cancellation, only recorded in use by Proud between December 1897 and June 1898 Estimate £ 80-100
