x Queensland Covers and Cancellations 1872 (27 Feb.) brown envelope from Caboolture to London, marked "via Brindisi", bearing 3d. brown and 6d. yellow-green clearly cancelled by sunburst "131", showing despatch c.d.s. and circular-framed "more/to/pay" alongside, the rare framed "insufficiently paid/via brindisi", framed "deficient postage__/fine____" with manuscript "3d" and "6" alongside and, on reverse, Brisbane and arrival (20.5) datestamps. Very rare, only about three examples are known. Photo Estimate £ 2,500-3,000 Note:This cover was clearly over-weight and was sent via Southampton. It was still 3d. underpaid for a double weight letter by that route, so it received the deficient handstamps at Brisbane. This cover is illustrated on page 115 of "Queensland Postal History" by H.M.
