x Italian Colonies 1917-22 Italian Post Offices - Peking 1918-19 Second Surcharge 1919 (17 May) envelope registered to France, originally intended to be sent through the Italian Post Office and bears 8c. on 20c. orange, pair, with Express 12c. on 30c., however, the letter was delivered to the French Post Office in Peking where French Post Office 8c. on 20c., pair, was added and all the stamps cancelled by French "pekin/chine" c.d.s. with French registration label at left; the reverse with Shanghai transit c.d.s. and the envelope sealed by a strip of margin from the 8c. on 20c. stamp. A great rarity, believed to be the only mixed franking cover with stamps from both French and Italian Post Offices in China. Holcombe (1986) and Diena (1987) Certificates.
