x Italian Colonies 1917-22 Italian Post Offices - Peking 1917 First Surcharge 1918 (6 May) envelope (small adhesive tape stain at top) registered locally to the Legation bearing 6c. on 25c., blue variety additionally surcharged 4c. in combination with "Pechino" on 1c. brown (3) and 2c. red-brown tied by the Italian Post Office c.d.s. with registration label alongside. Fresh and fine, despite being philatelic this is a very rare cover, only four examples of this double surcharge were said to have been issued (one damaged in the post). Includes registration receipt.
