A Great War 1916 ´French Theatre´ M.M. Group of Four to Private F. Stevens, Northamptonshire Regiment a) Military Medal, G.V.R (14565 Pte. F. Stevens. 6/Nth´n: R.) b) 1914-15 Star (14565 Pte. F. Stevens. North´n R.) c) British War and Victory Medals (14565 Pte. F. Stevens. North´n.R.), generally good very fine (4) Estimate £ 300-350 M.M. London Gazette 21.10.1916 14565 Pte. F. Stevens 6th Bn. North´´n R. 14565 Private Frank Stevens, M.M., served during the Great War with the 6th Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment in the French Theatre of War, from 26.7.1915; Stevens´´ battalion as part of the 54th Brigade, 18th (Eastern Division), were in action on the Somme from the 1st of July to the third week of November 1916, in particular: on the 1st Day of the Battle of the Somme, when they suffered 160 casualties; in the attack on Trones Wood, 14th July, when the Battalion won a Victoria Cross (awarded to Sergeant W. Boulter), and suffered 285 casualties; and an attack on Thiepval, 26th September, when the battalion suffered 169 casualties.
