New Zealand 1845-66, reverse dated 1845-1847 (H. Blyth, Captn. Mn. Top, H.M.S. Racehorse), minor solder strengthening to left-hand side of suspension claw, nearly extremely fine and scarce Estimate £ 1,000-1,200 Henry Blyth, born Gosport, Hampshire; service in the Royal Navy including in H.M.S. Excellent, before being borne on the books of H.M.S. Racehorse, 22.12.1844-22.8.1848. Approximately 36 New Zealand medals were awarded to H.M.S. Racehorse, 23 of which are known, including 1 undated reverse, 1 reverse dated 1845-1846, with the rest being dated 1845-1847. No other ship received this medal with the latter date.
