Turkey, Order of the Medjidieh, 5th Class London Gazette 3.4.1858 John Guy Courtenay Evered, R.N. Captain John Guy Courtenay Evered, R.N., passed his examination, 1852, and served as Senior Mate in H.M.S. Queen (Captain F.T. Michell) during the Crimean War; and was present in her for the attack on Fort Constantine, Sebastopol, 17.10.1854; promoted Lieutenant the following month; Evered was made an Additional of the Britannia and the Royal Albert and served ashore with the Naval Brigade for 8 months, in which capacity, ´´he was present at every bombardment of Sebastopol but the first, and was once wounded´´ (O´´Byrne´´s Biographical Dictionary refers); served in H.M.S. Princess Charlotte (Captain G. St. Vincent King), 1857-59; served in H.M.S. Fury and H.M.S. Nankin (Commodore Hon. Keith Stewart), off the Coast of China; served in H.M.S.
