Family Group: Pair: Private O. Brownett, Royal West Surrey Regiment British War and Victory Medals (G-69666 Pte. O. Brownett. The Queen´s R.), nearly extremely fine, with Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque, ´Oliver Brownett´ Pair: Private A. Brownett, Northumberland Fusiliers British War and Victory Medals (4-3662 Pte. A. Brownett. North´d Fus.), extremely fine, with Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque, ´Arthur Brownett´ (4) Estimate £ 200-240 The Brownett´´s were brothers, and were both born in Nottingham. G/69666 Private Oliver Brownett (formerly no. 281742 R.A.S.C.), served during the Great War with the 6th Battalion The Queen´´s, he died of wounds 30.3.1918; in the latter part of March the battalion were en situe in Hamel, suffering heavy casualties as a result of Ludendorff´´s Spring Offensive (Operation Michael); Brownett is buried in Doullens Communal Cemetery Extension No1, Somme. 4-3662 Private Arthur Brownett, served during the Great War with the 1/4th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he was killed in action on the Western Front, 15.9.1916; on the latter date the battalion were in action during the battle of Flers-Courcellette on the Somme, the assault going through Hook Trench towards Starfish Line just west of High Wood; Brownett is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme.
