Four: Major N.H.V. Cogill, Northamptonshire Regiment British War and Victory Medals (Lieut. N.H.V. Cogill.); Defence and War Medals, very fine or better, mounted as originally worn, with the following metal insignia: recipient´s cap badge, 12 buttons, 4 crowns, 6 pips, and Great War riband bar, recipient´s Report as a Gentleman Cadet on Passing Out for a Commission from Sandhurst, dated 26.10.1916, in original envelope; and a letter from the War Officer addressed ´Major N.H.V. Cogill, Regular Army Reserve of Officers, The Northamptonshire Regiment, Goomera Estate, Madulkelle, Ceylon´ informing him of his discharge from the Regular Army Reserve together with the following family related items - Fifteen Letters, Five with orginal addressed envelopes, from Sergeant W.H. Cogill, ´C´ Troop Lonsdales Horse to his parents, encompassing his service during the South African War 1877-79, including one dated 2 days before the battle of Ulundi, the letters dated 11.4.1878, 3.10.1878, 26.10.1878, 21.11.1878, 7.1.1879, 13.4.1879, 8.5.1879, 16.6.1879, 26.6.1879, 1.7.1879, 9.7.1879, 13.7.1879, 9.8.1879, and 20.8.1879 respectively - Two Driving Licences to Peter John Francis Cogill, his Confirmation Certificate, and a National Service Medal, in box of issue (lot) Estimate £ 200-250 Major Noel Hugh Vernon Cogill, born 1895; commissioned Second Lieutenant Northamptonshire Regiment, 27.10.1916; served with the regiment during the Great War on the Western Front, 12.12.1916 - 10.8.1917; Lieutenant 27.4.1918; transferred to Reserve of Officers before re-engaging for service during the Second World War with his regiment as Temporary Captain (later Brevet Major), 3.12.1939. Sergeant W.H. Cogill served with Lonsdales Horse during the South Africa War 1877-79, and was entitled to a medal with ´´1879´´ clasp. The Cogill Family were related to the Raitts by marriage.
