British Guiana Covers and Cancellations Mail to the United Kingdom 1879 (5 Oct.) envelope (opened-out) from Georgetown "By French Mail Via St. Nazaire" to London, bearing 1876 4c. blue (2) lightly cancelled with c.d.s. and showing London Paid c.d.s. (25.10) alongside, the reverse with "ligne c./paq. fr. no.1" c.d.s (5.10) in red (applied on either the "Venezuela or "Salvador") and "ligne a./paq. fr. no 3" c.d.s. (10.5); the envelope tear at top and a little soiled though very scarce with only three covers recorded. After British Guiana joined the U.P.U. in 1877 British mail could be carried on this service
