British Guiana Covers and Cancellations Inland Mail 1886 (3 Nov.) envelope from Demerara to "Coomeroo Demerara River", bearing 1882 type-set 1c. magenta S.G. Type 26 horizontal pair each cancelled with double-ring d.s., marked "stamps out of issue" and charged "04" cents double deficiency, both in blue crayon, the reverse with "t.p.o. demerara river/b. guiana" double-ring d.s. (Proud D2); the envelope with flap missing and small faults at top through opening, and one stamp defective at right, nevertheless a rare and unusual franking. Photo Estimate £ 700-800 Note: De La Rue delivered replacement stamps on 27 January 1882. The Governor minuted that the provisionals should be kept against a future shortage. No record appears to exist of instruction to destroy
