India Early Letters and Handstamps 1807 (Oct.)-08 (Oct.) series of five entire letters written by a man on his journey to, and arrival in, India where he is to serve as First Assistant to the Secretary to Government in the Revenues and Judicial Department; the first written at sea as he has just spotted a fleet which he supposes are "our troops returning from the river Plate", the second from "Bay of Bengal off Pondicherry" refers to the surrender of the Danish Settlement of Tranquebar and the capture of the sole ship that belonged to the Danes, the third from Madras, the fourth and fifth from Fort S. George; the first landed at Cove with mileage h.s., three others with London Ship Letter h.s. or d.s. An interesting group
