India Early Letters and Handstamps 1799 (14 Aug.) large part entire letter from Madras to Salem, marked "service" and showing, on reverse, a largely fine strike of the oval-framed "post paid/service/fort st george" (HG 5 with ornament below the bottom line) and with part of a framed d.s. alongside; the envelope stained, fragile and with other faults though believed to be the sole recorded example of this h.s. which was never seen by Hammond Giles.
