x Malaya Straits Settlements 1862 (1 Sep.) double rate entire letter to Cadiz, marked "Overland via Suez and Gibraltar", showing manuscript "2/" and with handstruck "15R" in red, the reverse with boxed Hinnekinal Kerm company cachet, Alexandria (7/10) British Post Office c.d.s., Malta Lazerette and Cadiz arrival (18/10). The forwarding agent in Malta, Whyte & Co., wrote of the front "10d.á 4 ri.Pagados en Gibraltar" with manuscript "10" in pencil applied by the postmaster, but still charged 15r. by the Spanish postmaster in Cadiz.
